Scrum.org is getting serious
"Scrum In Depth" program was renamed to "Professional Scrum Master". You can read it as war with Scrum Alliance, which provides Certified Scrum Master certificates. In my opinion. The word Professional and slogan "A Credible Standard" are used here to differencaite level of knowledge and strict rules of passing exam comparing to nearly no assesment in case of Certified Scrum Master certification. Rules of Scrum.org are quite tough and will be tougher from August 15:
- Aspiring PSMs will have just one chance to achieve a minimum score of 85% on the assessment.
- Correct answers will not be displayed at the end of the assessment.
If one of the fathers of Scrum leaves Scrum Alliance and sets new rules and a guide in competitive organization, there must be a good reason for it. I think it was too easy to be Certified Scrum Master or Certified Product Owner, what led to many Scrum BUT implementations across the world. Scrum BUT in most of the cases stays as it is because CSM doesn't see real issues and then starts the whole blaming Scrum as not working or delivering low quality products framework.
You can also see here that Ken Schwaber is no longer Certified Scrum Trainer http://scrumalliance.org/profiles/7-ken-schwaber.
